HS FOOTBALL: Hillbillies hold off Spartans, stay unbeaten

Man erased a slim 7-6, halftime deficit with a big third quarter and the Hillbillies held on to knock off Class AAA Greenbrier East, 22-17, in a game played at Spartan Stadium on Friday night.

The Hillbillies, now 4-0, built a 22-7 lead heading into the fourth quarter before the Spartans scored on a late safety and touchdown in the game’s final three minutes.

Man’s Quentin Moody scored on a 10-yard pass play from quarterback Caleb Milton midway through the third period to put the Hillbillies ahead to stay. He then picked off a pass and returned it 30 yards for a score. Milton passed for 102 yards. Quentin Mood had four catches for 59 yards.

Running back Josh Moody scored on a 15-yard run in the second period.

Man returns home to host River View (2-3) on Sept. 27. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
