Letcher Central went into Perry Central and escaped with a 21-20 victory over the Commodores in a game played on Friday night.
Running back Hunter Campbell had nine rushes for 116 yards and a touchdown and he also caught a 51-yard touchdown pass as the Cougars snapped a two-game losing streak and improved to 3-3.
Quarterback Carson Adams added 56 yards rushing on 12 carries and Alex Blair’s only carry for seven yards went for a touchdown.
Sam Little led the defensive surge for the Cougars with 15 tackles while Reece Barnette, who recovered a fumble, and Jonan Little followed with 10 apiece. Each had three solo tackles.
Letcher Central will journey to Harlan County (5-1) on Oct. 4. Kickoff from Coal Miners Memorial Field is set for 7:30 p.m.
