Chapmanville stopped Wayne running back Aaron Adkins on a two-point conversion run late in the third quarter and the Tigers held on for a 7-6 victory over the Pioneers on Friday night.
Adkins’ TD run came from 12 yards out with 5 minutes, 3 seconds left.
It was the fourth straight when for Chapmanville after opening the season with three losses. Wayne dropped to 0-7.
Running back Jaxson Turner, who rushed for 61 yards on 14 carries, scored on a two-yard run with 5:29 remaining in the opening half and Xavier Trump’s PAT kick provided the margin of victory.
Running back Josh Bumgarner led the Tigers with 72 yards on nine carries and quarterback Chase Berry added 62 yards on 12 rushes. Berry passed for 61 yards.
The Tigers will journey to Willis-Nisbet Stadium to face county-rival Logan (1-6) on Oct. 25. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
