HS FOOTBALL: Cards score big road win at Middlesboro

Martin County scored its seventh win this football season when the Cardinals went on the road to Middlesboro and left with a hard-fought 22-19 win over the Yellow Jackets on Friday night.

Running back Logan Proctor carried 22 times for 131 yards and one touchdown as the Cardinals improved to 7-3. The seven wins are the most since then Sheldon Clark finished 9-5 in 2009.

Caleb Costa and Drake Muncy added one rushing touchdown each.

Nick Harless led the defense with 13 tackles. Alex Dials had an interception.

Martin County will journey to Robinson Creek to face Shelby Valley (8-2) on Nov. 8. Kickoff for the Class 2A matchup at Teco Field is set for 7:30 p.m.
