HS FOOTBALL: Blackcats cruise past Warriors

Prestonsburg dominated from the opening kickoff against East Ridge and rolled to a 54-8 victory in a game played at Josh Francis Memorial Field on Friday night.

Quarterback Brayden Slone had a big night, rushing for 102 yards and three touchdowns and passing for 80 yards and another score as Prestonsburg moved to 2-4. Running back Carter Akers had 113 yards and one score on five carries.

Samuel Kelly and Eric Armstrong each added a rushing touchdown. Reece Hamilton tossed a touchdown pass as well. John Rose had a 52-yard TD reception from Slone and Adam Blair caught a one-yard scoring pass from Hamilton.

Prestonsburg finished with 339 yards rushing and 81 through the air.

Braxton Collins had 12 tackles as the Blackcats limited the Warriors to just 167 yards in total offense.

Prestonsburg will play at Shelby Valley (4-2) and the Warriors, now 0-5, will host Martin County (4-1) on Oct. 3. Both games are set for 7:30 p.m.
