HS FOOTBALL: Black Bears hand Cards first setback

Martin County scored the game’s first touchdown but host Harlan County stormed back to beat the Cardinals, 46-21, in a game played at Coal Miners Memorial Field on Friday night.

Quarterback Drake Muncy fired a 50-yard touchdown pass to Dawson Jude. It would be all the points Martin County would score until after the Black Bears ran off 46 unanswered.

Running back Kolby Sparks scored on a two-yard run in the third period and Muncy ran eight yards in the fourth to cap the scoring.

Logan Proctor had 24 yards on seven carries to lead the Cardinals, now 2-1.

Martin County returns to The Rock to host Phelps (2-0) on Sept. 13. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
