Shelby Valley’s defense had no answer for Ridgeview (Va.) star running back Trenton Adkins.
Adkins rushed for 295 yards and six touchdowns on 17 carries as the Wildcats fell on the road, 63-32, on Friday night. He had rushed for 357 yards and five touchdowns in the season-opener one week ago.
Shelby Valley running back Ethan Bentley had a career night along with Jayden Newsome as both rushed for more than 200 yards each. Bentley finished with 281 yards and three touchdowns on 27 carries while Newsome added 207 yards and one score on 26 rushes.
Running back Jordan Little added a rushing touchdown.
The Wildcats played without quarterback Dalton Meade.
Shelby Valley will travel to Knott County Central (0-3) on Sept. 13. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
