HS BASKETBALL: Wesley holds off Aspire; PHS, Valley roll

ALLEN – Wesley Christian took a double-digit lead early on against Aspire Academy and held  on for a 54-47 victory in a game played Jan. 8.

C.J. Allison tossed in 14 points as the Circuit Riders improved to 16-7. Miki Tadic followed with 12 and Oussema Marnaoui chipped in 11.

GOODY – Pikeville used a big second quarter to take charge against Belfry to earn a 71-59 victory in a game played Jan. 8.

Connor Roberts fired in a game-high 19 points as the Panthers moved to 8-5. Kyle Watkins followed with 17 and Christian Billiter tallied 12.

Dezmon Roblee paced the Pirates, now 3-10, with 16 points while Ty May finished with 12.

SALYERSVILLE – Shelby Valley’s Cody Porter had a monster double-double to lead the Wildcats to a 76-66 victory over Magoffin County  in a game played Jan. 8.

Potter stripped the nets for a game-high 34 points and pulled down 22 rebounds as Valley improved to 13-1. Sam Stanley and Orbie McPeek scored 12 each while Cameron Worrix added 10.

Brady Whitaker hit for 21 points as the Hornets dropped to 8-7. Isaiah Salyer fired in 20 and Randy Bailey tossed in 10.

Ethan Colegrove led all scorers for the Panthers, now 4-4, with a game-high 22 points. Tyler Chaffin and Easton Davis tossed in 12 apiece.

Isaac Moore and Jarius Jackson hit for nine each to lead the Miners (0-8).

Trey Francis led the Hornets, now 5-5, with 19 points while Dominick Francis followed with 17.

Betsy Layne’s Jordan Frazier finished with a game-high 21 points to lead the Bobcats (7-7). Zack Bentley tallied 11.
