HS BASKETBALL: Valley rallies past Pikeville

ROBINSON CREEK – Shelby Valley rallied in the final quarter to knock off 59th District rival Pikeville, 53-43, in a game played at the Shelby Valley Sports Center Jan. 5.

The Wildcats, now 12-1, landed three players in double-figure scoring, led by Cody Potter’s 18 and 12 rebounds to finish with a double-double. Cameron Worrix tossed in 14 and Keian Worrix tallied 10. Orbie McPeek added eight.

Connor Roberts was the only Pikeville (7-5) player in double digits with a game-high 19 points. Ryley Sammons added nine and Connor Byers chipped in eight. .

JENKINS – East Ridge took control in the opening half and went on to beat Jenkins, 80-51, in a game played Jan. 5.

Kane Taylor fired in a game-high 26 points as the Warriors moved to 5-8. Eli Sykes and Dalton Wellman tallied 13 each.

Payton Rose paced the Cavaliers (1-11) with 15 points. Jahkaya Templier followed with 14 and Ethan Cummings added 10.

Ian Reed fired in 17 points and Ethan Colegrove followed with 16 as the Panthers dropped to 3-4. Caleb May tossed in 13 while Tyler Chaffin and East Davis finished with nine apiece.

Tyler Maynard poured in 30 points and grabbed 10 rebounds to finish with a double-double as the Bulldogs improved to 11-4.

Cody Maynard added 20 points and Chase Sartin chipped in eight.

PAINTSVILLE – Paintsville overcame a first-half deficit and pulled away from Johnson Central in the final period to score a 73-54 win in a game played Jan. 4.

Seth Williams poured in 27 points to lead four Tigers (10-2) in double-figure scoring. Braxton Tharp followed with 15 while Nick Keeton had a double-double, with 14 points and 10 rebounds. Colby Fugate added 10 points.

Cory VanHoose paced the Golden Eagles (10-2) with 22 points while Jacob Rice had a double-double as well with 14 points and 11 boards.

Connor Roberts stripped the nets for a game-high 29 points as the Panthers, now 7-5, placed three players in double-figure scoring. Christian Billiter hit for 17 and Connor Byers added 10.

Eli Sykes paced the Warriors (4-8) with 23 points. Dalton Wellman followed with nine.
