HS BASKETBALL: Tigers thump Pirates; Valley rolls

PAINTSVILLE – Paintsville’s Colby Fugate stripped the nets for a game-high 33 points to power the Tigers to a 72-48 victory over Belfry in a game played Feb. 5.

Nick Keeton finished with 14 points, eight rebounds and three assists as Paintsville improved to 15-5.

Jaxson Thompson paced the Pirates (7-19) with 12 points while Ty May tossed in 11.

ROBINSON CREEK – Shelby Valley held Pike Central to just eight, first-half points as the Wildcats cruised to a 60-24 victory in a game played at the Shelby Valley Sports Center Feb. 5.

Cameron Worrix led a balanced scoring attack for Valley, now 24-4, with a game-high 17 points while Cody Potter added 16 points and nine rebounds.

Bryce Adkins tallied seven to lead the Hawks, now 15-10.

NAUGATUCK – Tug Valley held off Mingo Central in the closing minutes to escape with a 67-59 victory in a game played Feb. 5.

Caleb May tossed in 20 points for the Panthers, now 9-9. Easton Davis finished with 12 ad Ethan Colegrove tallied 11. Joby Sorrell chipped in nine.

Mingo Central’s Nathan May led all scorers for the Miners (2-14) with 24 points. Isaac Moore followed with 15. Colton Blankenship added eight.
