HS BASKETBALL: Sheldon Clark, BL struggle in tourney games

PARIS – Sheldon Clark ended a four-game losing streak as the Lady Cardinals defeated Tates Creek, 56-28, on the final day of the Plan B Apparel Holiday Classic played at Bourbon County High School Dec. 29.

Madison Thompson poured in 17 points and grabbed 14 rebounds to finish with a double-double. Kristen Issac followed with 16 points and pulled down 10 boards to also score a double-double. Paige Maynard tossed in 10 and Lakyn Porter added nine.

Sheldon Clark is now 5-8.

PARIS – Sheldon Clark fell behind by double digits and the Lady Cardinals came up short against Oldham County, 51-41, in the second round of the Plan B Apparel Holiday Classic played at Bourbon County High School Dec. 28.

Paige Maynard paced the Lady Cardinals (4-8) with 13 points and seven rebounds. Lakyn Porter finished with nine and Madison Thompson tossed in eight and had nine rebounds.

PARIS – St. Henry took charge early on and Sheldon Clark never recovered as the Lady Cardinals dropped a 66-48 decision in the opening round of the Plan B Apparel Holiday Classic played at Bourbon County High School Dec. 27.

Paige Maynard fired in 15 points and Kristen Isaac added 12 as the Lady Cardinals fell to 4-7. Madison Thompson had a double-double, scoring 10 points and grabbing 10 rebounds.

Warren East Holiday Hoop Classic

BOWLING GREEN – Sheldon Clark battled Caverna to the final minute before falling 62-57, in the second round of the Warren East Holiday Hoop Classic played Dec. 20.

Madison Thompson had a monster game for the Lady Cardinals, now 4-6, with 24 points and 19 rebounds for a double-double. Paige Maynard followed with 23 points while McKenzie Preston added eight.

BOWLING GREEN – Sheldon Clark’s Kristen Isaac fired in 13 points and pulled down 15 rebounds to power the Lady Cardinals to a 44-35 win over Campbellsville in the opening round of the Warren East Holiday Hoop Classic played Dec. 19.

Paige Maynard followed with 13 points and Lakyn Porter added 11 as Sheldon Clark moved to 4-5. Madison Thompson had four points and a game-high 15 rebounds.

LANCASTER – Betsy Layne fell behind to Madison Central and the Lady Bobcats came up on the short end of a 58-49 decision on the final day of the Elite Insurance Lady Lions Classic played at Garrard County High School Dec. 29.

Madilyn Meade led the Lady Bobcats, now 2-11, with 12 points and eight rebounds. Lauryn Watkins followed with 11 points while Amelia Blackburn tossed in nine and Kimberly Akers added eight.

LANCASTER – East Jessamine took charge early in the game and cruised past Betsy Layne, 73-49, in the second round of the Elite Insurance Lady Lions Classic played at Garrard County High School Dec. 28.

Lauryn Watkins paced the Lady Bobcats (2-10) with 15 points while Alexandria Jarvis finished with eight. Kimberly Akers had six points and pulled down 10 rebounds in the loss.

Madilyn Meade fired in 15 and Kimberly Akers added eight points and grabbed nine rebounds as Betsy Layne dropped to 2-9.

LOUISA – Lawrence County landed three players in double-figure scoring as the Lady Dawgs rolled past Betsy Layne, 76-44, in a game played Dec. 21.

Kensley Feltner poured in 19 points as Lawrence County improved to 9-0. Brooke Neal added 16 and Alexis Ratliff tallied 11 in the win.

Lauryn Watkins, Katie Kidd and Alexandria Jarvis scored 11 each for the Lady Bobcats, now 2-8.
