HS BASKETBALL: Pikeville cruises past Jenkins

PIKEVILLE – Pikeville landed four players in double-figure scoring as the Lady Panthers defeated Jenkins, 82-54, in a game played at T.W. Oliver Memorial Gymnasium Jan. 10.

Kirsten Cole-Williamson paced Pikeville, now 11-5, with 19 points. Kelsey Jo Tackett followed with 15 while Alivia Gearheart net 14 and  Grace Bartley tossed in 12. Leslie Stewart added eight.

Kristen Thacker paced the Lady Cavaliers, now 4-11, with a game-high 21 points. Jerrica Thacker finished with 16 and Lindsey Rose chipped in nine.

PAINTSVILLE – Shelby Valley went on the road and came away with a 50-36 victory over defending 15th Region champion Johnson Central in a game played Jan. 10.

Tori Hampton led a balanced attack for the Lady Kats, now 10-9, with 16 points. Alyssa Elswick followed with 15 and Alex Stanley tossed in nine.

The Lady Eagles fell to 9-9.

NEWTOWN – The Chapmanville Regional Lady Tigers took charge early on and cruised to a 59-21 victory over Mingo Central in a game played on Miner Mountain Jan. 7.

Madison Webb tossed in 14 points for the Lady Tigers, now 5-4. She led all scorers. Kaylee Blair and Abbie Myers hit for 10 each.

Scarlett Thomason led the Lady Miners (1-10) with eight points.
