Johnson Central’s Isaiah May and Shelby Valley’s Cody Potter both had big weeks on the hardwood.
May had games of 12, 21, 13 and 30 to help the Golden Eagles move to 17-4. Potter had 17, 34, 16 and 25 to help the Wildcats advance to the boys’ All “A” Classic semifinals. Potter also had 15 and 12 rebounds in two of four games.
Their efforts have won them a share of EKB Sports’ Player of the Week honor.
Both edged out Lawrence County’s Cody Maynard and teammate Tyler Maynard. Cody scored 17, 28 and 15 points while Tyler knocked down 15, 20 and 25 for the Bulldogs.

Magoffin County’s Stacy Kennedy averaged a double-double for the Lady Hornets, scoring 18, 15 and 12 while pulling down 110, 12 and 22 rebounds.
Pike Central’s Brady Adkins had games of 11, 13, 17 and 23. Teammate Devin Baker scored 23, 11 and 11, including 10 rebounds in one game.
Pikeville’s Connor Roberts scored 12, 13 and 15 for the Panthers .
Johnson Central’s Jacob Rice net 18, 11 and 13 to aid the Golden Eagles.
Phelps’ Trey Francis had games of 26, 21 and 15 for the Hornets.
Prestonsburg’s Caroline Ariaz had games of 25 and 15 rebounds, 14 points and eight boards and 14 points and eight rebounds. Teammate Kaitlyn Keathley added games of 18, 25 and 11 for the Lady Blackcats.
Belfry’s Kenzie Maynard had a pair of double-doubles, scoring 15 and 15 while grabbing 12 and 16 boards.
Jenkins’ Jerrica Thacker scored 17, 25, 24 and 20 while sister, Kristen had games of 23, 21 and 18 for the Lady Cavaliers.
Pike Central’s Cassidy Mullins had games of 32 and 19 while Bailey Birchfield net 17 and 17 and Kelsi Brinager tossed in 16 and 11 for the surging Lady Hawks.
Phelps’ Chloe Smith had games of 16 points and eight rebounds and 17 points and 11 boards for the Lady Hornets.
Pikeville’s Kirsten Cole-Williamson scored 11 points and grabbed 14 rebounds and then tossed in 15 points and 10 boards for the Lady Panthers.
Floyd Central’s Katie Jo Moore scored 21 and 20 for the Lady Jaguars, unbeaten in district and regional play.
East Ridge’s Haylee Meade scored 11, 12 and 14 for the Lady Warriors.
This week’s milestones:
Prestonsburg’s Alivia Slone went over 1,000 points for her career. She is a sophomore.
Belfry’s Kylea Stanley grabbed her 1,000th career rebound and has now scored 1,000 points.
