HS BASKETBALL: Late run carries Lady Dawgs; SC wins

LOUISA – Lawrence County used a late, fourth-quarter run to take the lead away and beat Raceland, 62-53, in a game played at the Dawg House Jan. 28.

Kensley Feltner finished with 21 points as the Lady Bulldogs improved to 14-8. Alexis Ratliff added 20.

GOODY – Belfry made sure this lead didn’t slip away.

McKenzie Maynard poured in 23 points,  finished with 14 rebounds and blocked 10 shots to finish with a triple-double as Belfry raced past Phelps, 63-38, in a game played Jan. 28.

Maynard now has 148 blocks this season as Belfry improved to 10-11. Ariel Mounts followed with 11 points while Kyera Thornsbury and Lyndsey Miller tossed in 10 apiece.

Danielle Prater and Kacie Dotson scored 10 apiece for the Lady Hornets, now 9-11. Gabby McCoy added 10.

Amelia Blackburn led the Lady Bobcats, now 4-18, with 12 points. Alexandria Jarvis followed with 11 and Madilyn Meade tossed in 10.

HINDMAN – Shelby Valley fell behind against Knott County Central and could never catch up as the Lady Kats fell, 67-52, in a game played Jan. 28.

Alyssa Elswick tossed in 15 points and Cassidy Rowe followed with 12 as the Lady Kats dropped to 11-12. Laci Johnson tallied seven.

SALYERSVILLE – Sheldon Clark’s Kristen Isaac and Madison Thompson both finished with a double-double to power the Lady Cardinals to a 58-46 victory in a game played Jan. 28.

Isaac fired in 24 points and grabbed 10 rebounds while Thompson totaled 16 points and 10 board as the Lady Cardinals moved to 10-12. Paige Maynard finished with eight.

Kennedi Stacy finished with a game-high 25 points and Hailey Barnett added 11 as the Lady Hornets dropped to 5-17. Stacy also had 10 rebounds to finish with a double-double.
