PIKEVILLE – Shelby Valley junior Cody Potter’s season was balanced. He scored 130, 2-point goals, nailed 122, 3-point shots and converted on 125 free throw attempts.
His efforts on the court was a key part in Valley’s success all season long, finishing with the region’s best record at 28-6.
Potter has been named EKB Sports’ Player of the Year for Kentucky schools from across the region.
He edged out Johnson Central’s Jacob Rice and Phelps’ Trey Francis for the honor.
Coach of the Year honors went to Shelby Valley’s Jim Hicks. The veteran head coach edged Johnson Central’s Tommy McKenzie.
Isaiah May and Gabe Ferrell, who helped lead the Golden Eagles to the Sweet 16, were named captain of the second and third teams.
