Phelps High School’s Trey Francis is one of the region’s most solid players, game in and game out.
The junior is averaging 20 points per game and better than 11 boards this season. Last week, he recorded games of 20 points and 16 rebounds; 26 points and 10 boards; and 13 points and 16 rebounds.
His effort earned him EKB Sports’ Player of the Week honors, edging out a pair of outstanding female players in Belfry’s McKenzie Maynard and Prestonsburg’s Kaitlyn Keathley.
Maynard had games of 23, 13 and 23 points, along with 14, 14 and 15 rebounds for three double-doubles. Keathley scored 17, 26 and 19 points and had rebounding games six, nine and eight and converted on 22 of 23 free throws.
Here is this week’s honor roll:
Piarist School’s Kyle Price scored 26, 26 and 14 while grabbing 14 rebounds twice for double-doubles.
Johnson Central’s Jacob Rice scored 17, 22 and 19 for the Golden Eagles.
Shelby Valley’s Cody Potter finished with 21 points and seven rebounds and 18 points and 12 boards for the Wildcats.
East Ridge’s Sarah Tackett had games of 13, 16, 11 and 14 and had a double-double for the Lady Warriors.
Lawrence County’s Cody Maynard netted 20 and 22 for the Bulldogs.
Pikeville’s Connor Roberts had a monster game of 34 points in the Panthers lone game last week.
Prestonsburg’s Reesce Endicott scored 14, 11 and 25 for the Lady Blackcats.
Sheldon Clark’s Kristen Isaac scored 24 points and grabbed 10 rebounds in one game and added 17 points in another. Teammate Madison Thompson had a pair of double-doubles, scoring 16 and 13 while grabbing 10 and 11 boards.
This week’s milestones:
Johnson Central’s Jacob Rice broke the school’s all-time assist mark by going over 500.
Belfry’s McKenzie Maynard scored her 1,000th points.
