SALYERSVILLE – Floyd Central stormed back in the second half to knock off Pike County Central, 58-50, in the 15th Region Class 2-A championship game played at Magoffin County High School Jan. 5.
The difference in the game was free-throw shooting. The Lady Jaguars, now 15-0, made good on 18-of-30 attempts while the Lady Hawks (11-6) converted on just 3-of-16 chances.
Katie Jo Moore led Floyd Central with 13 points while Lauren Preston added 10. Grace Martin and Abby Maggard scored eight each.
Pike Central’s Cassidy Mullins led all scorers with a game-high 27 points. Bailey Birchfield followed with eight.
