HS BASKETBALL: CRHS win streak ends at 26

ORLANDO, Fla. – After falling to Oak Hills  (OH) in the opening round of the Rock Holiday Classic, Chapmanville rebounded to knock off Perry County Central, 71-51 Dec. 28.

Jordan  Kish  paced the Tigers (6-1) with 12 points by Devin Collins followed with 11 and Obinna  Anochili-Killen chipped in 10.

Noah Caudill led the Commodores with 13.

Tug Valley……55

CLEAR FORK – Tug Valley struggled offensively in the opening half and Westside pulled away in the second to hand the Panthers a 78-55 loss Dec. 27.

Caleb May fired in 18 points to lead Tug Valley, now 2-3. Tyler Chaffin and Ian Reed followed with 10 apiece. Ethan Colegrove tallied eight.

RACELAND – Paintsville captured the Derby Classic championship with a thrilling 72-71 win over Allen County-Scottsville Dec. 22.

Seth Williams led a balanced scoring attack with 20 points. Colby Fugate added 19 points and 14 rebounds to finish with a double-double. Brady Dingess chipped in 14 and Braxton Tharp tallied 10 as the Tigers improved to 8-2.

GATLINBURG, Tenn. – Pikeville saw a slim fourth-quarter lead slip away as  Bullitt Central rallied to beat the Panthers, 57-54, in the final game of the Smoky Mountain Classic played Gatlinburg-Pittman High School Dec. 22.

Kyle Watkins led Pikeville, now 5-2, with a game-high 20 points. Connor Roberts tossed in 15 while Christian Billiter tallied eight.

RACELAND – Paintsville punched its ticket to the Derby Classic finals with a 64-62 win over Morgan County in the semifinals played Dec. 21.

Colby Fugate fired in 21 points and Braxton Tharp added 19 as the Tigers moved to 7-2. Nick Keeton chipped in nine points and pulled down 15 rebounds.

GATLINBURG, Tenn. – Pikeville pulled away from Warren Central in the second half and breezed to a 57-39 win in the second round of the Smoky Mountain Classic played Gatlinburg-Pittman High School Dec. 21.

Connor Roberts stripped the nets for a game-high 27 points as the Panthers improved to 5-1 while dropping the Dragons to 5-1. Central had beaten Pikeville in the Elite 8 last year in Lexington.

Rylee Sammons, Byron Hammonds and Connor Byers chipped in eight apiece.
