HS BASKETBALL: Bobcats fall in road game at Buckhorn

BUCKHORN – Betsy Layne saw a five-point, halftime lead slip away in the second half as the Bobcats fell to Buckhorn, 48-36, Wednesday night.

The Bobcats, now 1-1, shot only 11 percent from the floor following the break.

Lukas Manns and Chase Mims led Betsy Layne will eight apiece while Zach Bentley and Jordan Frazier chipped in seven each.

Danny Abner led the Wildcats (1-0) with a game-high 14 points.

LOUISA – Lawrence County took control early on and cruised to a 68-32 win over Morgan County in the season opener Wednesday night.

Kelly Davis led a balanced scoring attack with a game-high 18 points. Alexis Ratliff followed with 13 and Kensley Feltner tossed in 11.Brooke Neal added nine.

Aspen Ferguson led the Lady Cougars (0-2) with eight.

JENKINS – Perry Central was able to pull away from Jenkins in the second half to send the Lady Cavaliers down to a 77-60 defeat at the hands of the Lady Commodores.

Kristin and Jerrica Thacker each poured in 17 points apiece for the Lady Cavs in the season opener. Sameria Meade followed with 10.

Chelsey Napier paced Perry Central with a game-high 21 points and Courtney Hoskins fired in 20.
