HS BASKETBALL: Belfry, Tug Valley, JC roll; Logan falls

SALYERSVILLE – Belfry took the lead away from Magoffin County in the second quarter and went on to score a 58-41 win in a game played Jan. 14.

Lyndsey Miller led a balanced attack for the Lady Pirates, now 8-9, with 17 points. Kylea Stanley added 14 and Linzee Phillips chipped in 10.

Haley Barnett paced the Lady Hornets (4-13) with 17 points while Kennedi Stacy totaled 15.

Ashley Belcher poured in 25 points and Sammi Sites added 14 as JC moved to 10-9. Alaina Castle and Morgan Hopson chipped in 10 apiece.

Kennedi Stacy tossed in 14 and  Macy Thacker tallied 13 as the Lady Hornets fell to 4-12.

PIPPA PASSES – Letcher Central had 11 different players score as the Lady Cougars cruised past June Buchanan, 64-27, in a game played Jan. 11.

Kaylee Banks led the way for Central, now 9-3, with 16 points. MacKenzie Craft and  Emma Maggard tossed in nine apiece.

LOUISA – Tug Valley’s Brooklyn Evans scored on a layup with 2.4 seconds remaining to complete the Lady Panthers improbable comeback win over Lawrence County, 64-63, in a game played Jan. 11.

The Lady Panthers, now 8-4, trailed by as many as 19 points in the final quarter before rallying to outscore Lawrence County (11-4) 30-15 to earn the victory.

Makayla May fired in a game-high 30 points and Kaylea Baisden added 21.

Alexis Ratliff paced the Lady Dawgs with 25 points and Kensley Feltner followed with 17.
