HS BASEBALL ROUNDUP: Wildcats top Bobcats; JC rolls on

ALLEN – Shelby Valley used timely hitting and a solid pitching performance from Jackson Lockhart-Wierwille to beat Betsy Layne, 8-1, in a game played at Stumbo Park April 17.

Logan Billiter had three hits, including a triple, and drove in two runs as the Wildcats improved to 7-8. Hunter Mullins added three hits, scored twice and knocked in one run.

Samuel Brown singled, scored twice and added an RBI.

Winning pitcher Ryley Preece allowed just two hits, both by Cardinal Parker Jarrell, as the Golden Eagles improved to 17-1.

Hunter McCloud belted a home run, doubled, scored three runs and batted in two while Chayse Meade went yard, singled and knocked in two runs.

Grant Davis had three hits, including two doubles, and drove in two runs while Ryan Sartin added three singles, scored a pair of runs and knocked in three.

Daylon Stafford suffered the loss as Sheldon Clark dropped to 8-9.

PAINTSVILLE – Paintsville’s Jake Hyden  and Seth Williams belted a pair of home runs each, scored six combined runs and drove in nine as the Tigers rolled past Magoffin County, 14-2, in a game played April 17.

Braxton Ratliff singled, scored twice and batted in two runs as the Tigers moved to 13-7. Karsten Poe doubled, singled and scored three runs to help winning pitcher Harris Phelps.

Lucas Litteral took the loss as the Hornets dropped to 3-10.

CHAPMANVILLE – Just one day after being held to a single run, Chapmanville erupted for 12 hits and steamrolled to a 16-7 win over Man in a game played at Ted Ellis Field April 17.

Conner Mullins had four hits for the Tigers, now 12-6.  Casey Hurley collected three while J.D. Ferrell drove in three runs and Braxton Manns batted in a pair.

Dylan McCormick had two hits and knock in two runs for the Hillbillies, who dropped to 8-5. Josh Lambert added one hit and walked three times.

Casey Hurley was the winning pitcher while Tyler Lafferty suffered the loss.

PAINTSVILLE – Johnson Central hit four home runs and finished with 14 hits in a 15-6 victory over Sheldon Clark in a game played April 16.

Hunter McCloud finished with five hits, including a home run and double, scored two runs and batted in four as the Golden Eagles moved to 16-1. Ryley Preece added three hits, including a dinger, scored three runs and knocked in a pair.

Grant Davis and Conner Lemaster also belted home runs.

Jon Fitch led the Cardinals (8-8) with three singles while driving in two runs. He also scored twice. Parker Jarrell added two hits, scored twice and added an RBI.

Andrew Music was the winning pitcher.  Dawson Jude suffered the loss.

Gunner Collins added three hits, including a double, scored twice and added an RBI. Karsten Poe had two hits, one a double, scored and knocked in two runs while Ryan Gibson collected two hits, scored two runs and drove in two.
