HS BASEBALL ROUNDUP: Tigers outlast Wildcats in 14 innings

LOGAN – Chapmanville Regional broke through with four runs in the top of the 14th inning to knock off county-rival Logan, 7-3, in a game played at Roger Gertz Field April 9.

The Tigers, now 10-4, outhit the Wildcats 19-7. Winning pitcher Chase Berry, Evan Plumley and Casey Hurley had three hits apiece. Plumley drove in three runs while Hurley batted in one. J.D. Ferrell knocked in a pair of runs.

Dawson Beckett suffered the loss as the Wildcats dropped to 7-5.

PAINTSVILLE – Johnson Central took an early four-run lead against Magoffin County and the Eagles went on to score a 12-2 victory in a game played April 9.

Ryan Sartin had a pair of doubles, drove in two runs and scored twice as Johnson Central improved to 11-1 and ran its winning streak to seven straight.

Conner Lemaster doubled and knocked home three runs while Chayce Meade had two hits and batted in four.

Mason Lovely doubled and scored for the Hornets, now 3-6. Nick Caldwell had an RBI and scored.

Grant Davis was the winning pitcher while Lucas Litteral was tagged with the loss.

LOUISA – Lawrence County pitcher Bryce Blevins scattered four hits and the Bulldogs used two big innings to pull away and beat Pikeville, 10-0, in a game played April 9.

Jackson Feltner and Blevins had two hits apiece and each drove in a pair of runs as the Bulldogs improved to 11-2. Tyler Maynard added a pair of hits and Austin Roe added an RBI.

Nate Brown suffered the loss for the Panthers, now 4-6.

PAINTSVILLE – Paintsville’s Gunner Collins blasted a pair of home runs, singled and drove in all four runs to lead to the Tigers to a come-from-behind 4-3 victory over Sheldon Clark in a game played April 9.

Jake Hyden added a pair of singles, walked and scored as the Tigers moved to 9-5.

Seth Williams was the winning pitcher in relief.

Jon Fitch singled, walked twice and drove in one run as the Cardinals fell to 6-6. Dawson Jude knocked in one run.

Parker Jarrell took the loss.

D’Sean Prinkleton pounded out three hits and drove in four runs as the Hawks moved to 3-9. Peyton Campton added two hits and knocked home a pair of runs.

Evan Coleman was the winning pitcher.

Losing pitcher Payton Burke collected four hits and batted in four runs for the Blackcats, who fell to 2-6.
