Hornets run past Warriors in PCB opener

GOODY – Phelps took charge early on against East Ridge and went on to score a 44-0 win in the opening game of the 34th annual Pike County Bowl played at CAM Stadium this past Friday night.

Running back Dominick Francis had rushing TDs of eight and 22 yards, sandwiched around a 32-yard scoring pass play from quarterback Garrett Clevenger.

Zackary Ramey added two short touchdown runs and Brandon Turnmire had an eight-yard rushing touchdown to push the Hornets up 36-0 at the break.

East Ridge (0-1) will play at Magoffin County (0-2) at 7:30 p.m., Aug. 31; and the Hornets (1-0) host Sheldon Clark (1-1) the same night beginning at 7 p.m.
