Hillbillies fall in home opener to Knights

MAN – Mount View utilized its speed to pull away and beat Man, 28-12, in a game played this past Friday night at George Queen Memorial Field.

Running back Elijah Barner scored on a six-yard run to give him 2,000 career points as a Golden Knights took a 6-0 lead with 5 minutes, 43 seconds left in the first period.

Man answered as quarterback Caleb Milton tossed an eight-yard touchdown pass with 1:10 to go in the first period.

Marqus Ray hauled in an 84-yard touchdown pass play from quarterback Jesse Rose with 10:49 remaining in the half. Terry Headen ran in the conversion to make it 14-6.

The Hillbillies closed to within 14-12 on Quentin Moody’s 31-yard touchdown pass from Milton with 8:38 to go in the third period.

Barner pushed the Knights up 20-12 with a 14-yard on the first play of the final period.

Ty Powell added a 22-yard touchdown run to close out the scoring.

Man, now 0-2, will host Westside (1-1) Friday night. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
