EKB Sports’ Super 7: Chapmanville new No. 1

The Chapmanville Regional High School Tigers have climbed to the top of EKB Sports’ Super 7 boys’ high school basketball poll released Dec. 30.

CRHS, now 7-1 after winning of two of three games this past weekend in Florida, takes the spot away from Shelby Valley, which lost its first game this season to Bourbon County in the Mountain Schoolboy Classic.

The Tigers, defending Class AA champions, had their 27-game winning streak snapped in the Sunshine State.

The Wildcats, now 10-1, share the number two position with Johnson Central (10-1), which climbed from fifth position after an impressive run in the Dan Swartz Classic played at Bath County.

The Paintsville Tigers, now 9-2, dropped one spot from third to fourth and are tied with the Logan Wildcats (6-1).

Lawrence County (8-4) is sixth, followed by Letcher County Central (7-4) at seventh.

Pike Central (8-5) and Pikeville (6-4) received votes.
