Deja Vu: Eagles, Pirates remain EKB Sports’ Super 7 poll leaders

The Johnson Central Golden Eagles and Belfry Pirates continue to hold down the top spots in the newest EKB Sports’ Super 7 football rankings announced today.

Johnson Central has now won five straight heading into this week’s matchup with Greenup County.

Belfry continues to keep pace after the Pirates ran their winning streak to five with a big home win over Floyd Central. The Pirates will host Cabell-Midland Friday.

Despite being idle this week, Shelby Valley continued to remain tied in third place with Pikeville. The Panthers, thanks to a late touchdown pass, was able to hold off district rival Hazard.

The Wildcats will play a big district game at Prestonsburg Thursday night while the Panthers are idle.

Paintsville is fifth this week following the Tigers huge road win at Walton-Verona last Friday night. The Tigers will host Fairview Friday.

Chapmanville enters the rankings for the first time this season following the Tigers big home win over Herbert Hoover, The Tigers, who started 0-2, have now won four straight. CRHS is idle this week.

The second newcomer to the poll is Phelps. The Hornets dismantled Fairview last week and are now 4-1. Phelps will host Hazard in a district game Thursday night beginning at 7 p.m.
