Dawgs hammer Hawks in district matchup

LOUISA – A lightning delay didn’t slow down Lawrence County as the Bulldogs ran out to a big halftime lead on went on to beat Pike County Central, 38-7, at the Dawg House Friday night.

Lawrence County running back Baden Gillispie rushed only seven times for 125 yards and three first-period touchdowns as the Bulldogs improved to 5-3. Ashton Blankenship added 106 yards and two scores on 11 carries.

Quarterback Noah West ran six times for 99 yards. He did not attempt a pass.

Pike Central running back Isaiah Hess scored the lone Hawk touchdown late in the third period. He finished with 34 yards on seven carries. Issac Thacker was held to just 48 yards on 11 rushing attempts.

Pike Central, now 2-5, will host Sheldon Clark (2-6) at the Hawks Nest and the Bulldogs welcome Belfry (6-1) next Friday night. Both games are set for 7:30 p.m.
