The University of Pikeville football Bears overcame a slow start to pull away and beat Campbellsville, 35-15, in a Mid-South Conference matchup played at Finley Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
A pair of fourth-quarter touchdowns enabled the Bears, now 3-3 overall and 2-1 in league play, to put distance between themselves and CU.
Quarterback Bowen Smith passed for 128 yards and two touchdowns while running back Derius Gibson added 64 yards on the ground and a pair of scores.
Receivers Arties Clark and Alex Shelton each hauled in a scoring pass.
Nyshun Bell returned a third-quarter fumble 46 yards for a touchdown.
UPIKE will return home to face ninth-ranked Lindsey Wilson on Oct. 26. Kickoff from the Hambley Athletic Complex is set for 5 p.m.
