University of Kentucky men’s basketball coach John Calipari signed a new 10-year contract with the school Thursday.
The new contract would guarantee compensation, which includes base salary and endorsements, in the amount of $86 million over the lifetime of the deal.
His base salary is $400,000 per season with the Wildcats. He will make $8 million in total compensation over the next two years. Increases will start in 2021-22, increasing $500,000 over four years, and an additional $500,000 for 2025-26.
Kentucky finished 30-7 this past season. Calipari is now 750-211 over his 27-year coaching career, including a 305-71 mark in 10 seasons with the Wildcats. He guided UK to the NCAA championship in 2012.
