Belfry scored on the first play from scrimmage and the Pirates never looked back in cruising to a 60-0 victory over Pike County Central in a Class 3A playoff district championship game played at CAM Stadium on Friday night.
Running back Peyton Hensley had just two carries for 89 yards, including an 82-yard score on his first carry, to help the Pirates move to 8-3. Isaac Dixon’s only carry resulted in a 41-yard touchdown and he also hauled in a 32-yard touchdown pass.
Ben Bentley rushed twice, both for TD runs of 40 and 57 yards and Isaiah Birchfield picked off a pass and ran it back 55 yards for a score.
Chris Warren, Israel Canterbury and Chris Phillips added rushing TDs.
The Pirates held Pike Central, which saw its season end at 7-4, to just 23 yards on 27 plays.
Belfry will host Ashland Blazer (10-2) in the regional championship game on Nov. 22. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
