Campbell’s late TD lifts Cougars past Whitley

WILLIAMSBURG – Letcher Central running back Hunter Campbell scored on a three-yard run with 17 seconds remaining and placekicker Zach Dollarhyde split the uprights to give the Cougars an improbable come-from-behind 21-20 over Whitley County in a game this past Friday night.

The Cougars, now 4-5, trailed 20-0 after just one quarter but shut out the Colonels over the final three periods.

Jonathan Sergent 5-yard run with 11 minutes, 28 seconds left in the opening half made it 20-7.

Campbell scored on a 7-yard run with 1:49 to play in the third period to pull the Cougars to within 20-14.

Letcher Central will close out the regular season Friday night at Floyd Central (5-4). Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
