LANGLEY – EKB Sports has confirmed that Floyd Central boys’ head basketball coach Kevin Spurlock has resigned his position.
Floyd County Superintendent of Schools Danny Adkins said Spurlock’s decision to step down was his own and he was not asked by board members to resign. He remains employed by the school system.
Spurlock, who guided the Jaguars to a 19-win season one year ago, was suspended earlier this season by the Floyd County Board of education for what was described as “conduct unbecoming of a coach.”
This year’s team is currently 2-14.
He coached one season at Perry County Central prior to coming to Floyd Central. He was in his 14th season as a head coach, having previously coached at Sheldon Clark, Clay County, Hazard and Trimble County.
