BOYS BASKETBALL: Francis leads Phelps to 2-0 start

PHELPS – Phelps’ Trey Francis fired in a game-high 23 points as the Hornets slipped past Twin Valley (Va.), 53-51, in a thriller at the McCoy Athletic Center on Dec. 1.

Cameron Sanson added nine as the Hornets improved to 2-0.

Kane Taylor, Cameron Hess and Eli Sykes finished with 14 points apiece while Dalton Wellman followed with 13 and Hunter Damron added 12.

Brady Whitaker fired in a game-high 27 points for the Hornets, now 0-2. Chandler Lykins added 11.

Samuel Stanley led the way with 18 points while Cody Potter tossed in 13 while Cameron Worrix added 11 in the season opener. Orbie McPeek chipped in nine.

John Fleming finished with 12 for the Cavaliers.
