Boyd tops Belfry boys; JC ladies rout Greenup

Boyd County’s J.B. Walter scored three goals and teammate Oliver Skauq added one to lead the Lions to a 4-1 win over Belfry in a match played in Cannonsburg on Saturday.

Belfry’s lone goal came off the foot of Blake Kulik, who was assisted by Logan Christian.

The Pirates fell to 1-2-0.

Sheldon Clark’s Hunter McCoy scored the lone goal in the Cardinals’ 4-1 road loss to Hazard.

Jestin Barker assisted on the goal as Sheldon Clark dropped to 0-3-0.

In the only other boys match Saturday, Johnson Central shutout Greenup County on the road, 1-0.

In girls’ matches, Johnson Central’s Lauren Johnson scored five goals and assisted on a pair of others as the Lady Eagles cruised past Greenup County on the road, 10-0.

Cleo Wells added three goals while Geana Ferguson and Haley Lykins added one each. Lykins also finished with three assists.

Sheldon Clark’s Jessie Perry and Julia Pinson scored one goal each in a 3-2 loss at Hazard.  Kaitlyn Gauze had one assist as the Lady Cardinals dropped to 1-2-0.

Emily Smith had two goals for Hazard and Bella Dawhare added one.

Rowan County’s Promise Cross knocked home three goals to lead the Lady Vikings to a 7-0 win over Belfry in a match played at RCHS.

Belfry is now 2-3-0 overall.
