Betsy Layne, Floyd Central post volleyball wins

Betsy Layne rolled to a 3-1 victory over Phelps in a volleyball match played Monday night at BLHS Gymnasium.

Katie Kidd had 12 kills, three serving aces and two blocks in the 25-15, 25-16, 19-25 and 25-15 win. Madison Hamilton finished with nine kills and three aces while Samantha Hollifield added five serving aces and 22 assists.

Shakira Lester totaled nine blocks and four kills for the Lady Hornets. Morgan Francis finished with six kills and two blocks while LaRanda Francis had six kills and four blocks.

Alyssa Wolford totaled 15 digs, Kara Stevens had seven assists and Sierra Sincell had two kills and 10 digs. Daeisha Smith added 19 serves and four aces.

Floyd Central rallied from an opening set loss to beat Shelby Valley, 3-1, in a match played at the Shelby Valley Sports Center.

Hailey Little totaled 13 kills and Caley Howard added 11 in the 20-25, 25-19, 25-23 and 25-19 win. Kiara Warrens had 19 digs and three serving aces while Allison Turner totaled 15 digs and Caroline Parsons collected 28 assists. Amelia Wallace finished with 13.

In other matches, Belfry defeated Sheldon Clark, 3-1 (25-17, 25-17, 21-25 and 25-17); Lawrence County downed Prestonsburg, 3-1 (11-25, 25-21, 25-18 and 25-16); while Pike Central won in straight sets over Magoffin County, 3-0 (25-10, 25-11 and 25-2).
