LOUISA – Belfry running back Isaac Dixon rushed for 165 yards and four touchdowns and quarterback Avery Browning passed for 144 yards and three scores to power the Pirates to a 56-28 district road win over Lawrence County this past Friday night.
The Pirates won their seventh straight game and took a step closer to capturing the district title while improving to 7-1. The Bulldogs dropped to 5-4.
Dixon had rushing touchdowns of 26, 16 and 28 yards. He returned a punt 80 yards for the game’s first points.
Browning was 3-for-3 pass, including a pair of touchdown throws to Ben Bentley of 64 and 38 yards. The third went to Justin Barker covering 42 yards.
Lawrence County quarterback Noah West rushed for 182 yards and three touchdowns.
Both teams are back in action Friday night as the Pirates host Pike County Central (3-5) at CAM Stadium while the Bulldogs travel to Floyd Central (5-3). Both games are set for 7:30 p.m.
