PIKEVILLE – Shelby Valley’s Keian Worrix drove the lane, bounced off a Pikeville player and put up a bank shot off the glass with 1.5 seconds left to give the Wildcats a dramatic 50-48 win over the Panthers in the 15th Region All “A” Classic championship game played at the Eastern Kentucky Exposition Center Sunday afternoon.
The Wildcats, now 18-2, overcame a halftime deficit to rally past the Panthers, who fell to 11-7.
Worrix finished the game with 13, but none bigger than his last, sending Valley to the state tournament. Cameron Worrix led the way with a game-high 16 points and Cody Potter added eight, all coming from the free-throw line.
Pikeville landed three players in double-figure scoring as Connor Roberts and Kyle Watkins led the way with 13 points apiece. Rylee Sammons finished with 10.
