Wildcats punch ticket to Final Four

RICHMOND – Shelby Valley’s defense held highly-touted Danville to just 27 percent shooting as the Wildcats stunned the Admirals, 47-30, to advance to the All “A” Classic semifinals Friday night at McBrayer Arena.

Just one night after beating Clinton County with its outside barrage of three-point goals, the Wildcats, now 20-3, turned to its inside game to move on.

Valley scored 26 of their total points in the paint. The Wildcats hit 17 of only 37 shots and converted on 10 of 16 free throws.

Cody Potter finished with a game-high 16 points while Sam Stanley added nine points and 13 rebounds. Keian Worrix and Cameron Worrix added eight points apiece and Orbie McPeek chipped in six.

Danville, now 19-2, made just 11 of 48 shots from the floor, and five of 10 foul shots.

The Wildcats will face University Heights at 7:30 p.m. tonight. UH topped Newport Friday, 69-46.
