All ‘A’ Classic soccer championship matches set

Prestonsburg and Paintsville boys and Prestonsburg and Sheldon Clark girls have punched their tickets to the All “A” Classic 15th Region soccer championship games set for Teco Field at Shelby Valley High School Saturday evening.

The Blackcats, now 6-0-2, advanced with an 11-1 win over the host Wildcats while the Tigers defeated Sheldon Clark, 5-1 Thursday night.

Isaiah Collins had five goals and two assists for Prestonsburg. Grant Justice added two goals and two assists. Matt Burchett added one goal and assisted on another. Nate Blackburn, Cody Mosley and Ryan Rankin scored one each.

Hunter McCoy scored the lone goal for the Cardinals in the loss to Paintsville.

Saturday night’s championship is set for 8 p.m.

In girls’ semifinals Wednesday night, Prestonsburg rolled to a 10-0 win over Paintsville.

Elizabeth Burchett had four goals and Jillian Kidd added three and assisted on one other while Makayla Ousley knocked home two goals and finished with six assists. Shelby Blackburn added one goal.

Prestonsburg is now 5-3-0.

Kaitlyn Gauze and Paige Maynard each scored one goal to lead the Lady Cardinals past Pikeville, 2-0.

Goalkeeper Makayla Goble recorded the shutout as Sheldon Clark moved to 3-3-0.

The girls’ finals are set for 6 p.m. Saturday.
