CLASS 2A PLAYOFFS: Comets slow down, eliminate Cats
Shelby Valley ran out to a 12-point, first-quarter lead before West Carter came storming back to knock off the Wildcats, 50-12, in a Class 2A playoff game at Olive Hill on Friday night.
The Wildcats, who saw their season end at 9-3, was hampered offensively by an injury suffered by all-purpose back Dalton Meade. Running back Ethan Bentley scored on a three-yard run and Jayden Newsome added a four-yard TD run in the first period.
West Carter’s defense shut the Wildcats down the remainder of the way.
Bentley ran 23 times for 103 yards and Newsome added 89 on 16 carries. Meade was limited to just five rushes for 16 yards.
