Every football game from here on out is big for Coach Al Holland Jr. and his Bears.
UPIKE brings a 3-3 record into Saturday evening’s homecoming showdown with No. 9 Lindsey Wilson College (7-0) at the Hambley Athletic Complex.
The Blue Raiders are a perfect 6-0 against UPIKE, including last year’s 69-14 thrashing in Columbia. LWC racked up a single-game, program-best 661 yards.
UPIKE’s defense has come to play, recording 11 sacks in the Bears dominating 35-15 road win last Saturday against Campbellsville. The Bears allowed just 142 total yards.
Ball control will be a key this weekend. UPIKE must limit LWC’s offensive plays while moving the football themselves and scoring points.
Quarterback Bowen Smith passed for 128 yards and two touchdowns in the win at Campbellsville. Running back Derius Gibson ran for two scores.
The Blue Raiders have dominated opponents all season long, outscoring their first seven foes 334-106.
Kickoff is set for 6 p.m. Tailgating with the Bears begins at 4 p.m.
