The University of Pikeville men’s basketball team, which finished 25-9 and reached the NAIA national tournament quarterfinals one year ago, have been picked second in the Mid-South Conference.
The Bears were behind Georgetown College, which just this past March captured the team’s third national championship. The Tigers are coming off a 33-4 season.
Cumberlands is third in the preseason coaches’ poll, followed by Campbellsville and Life (Ga.) University.
The Bears will begin regular season play on Oct. 25 at the UPIKE Gymnasium on Oct. 25. Tipoff is set for 8 p.m.

Meanwhile, the UPIKE women are picked sixth out of nine teams to begin the 2019-20 season.

Campbellsville was chosen to repeat as league champions. Shawnee State (Ohio) was tabbed third, followed by Lindsey Wilson and Thomas Moore
UPIKE’s first regular season game is set for Oct. 25 at the UPIKE Gymnasium against Wilberforce University. Tipoff is set for 4 p.m.
