UPIKE SPORTS ROUNDUP: Men’s, women’s hoop tickets available

University of Pikeville men’s and women’s basketball programs have announced season-ticket packages are now available to fans.

Fans can choose their own seat for just $80, which will include 39 games for each program.

All packages include entry to all tournaments as well, including the UPIKE Tip-Off Classic, Appalachian Wireless Classic, Walters Auto Group Class as well as all doubleheaders.

Games will be split between the Appalachian Wireless Arena and the UPIKE Gymnasium.

In addition, single game advance tickets will be available at the Arena’s box office for $7 per game. Through the season ticket packages the cost is just over $2.

Runners set PRs at JennaStrong Fall Classic

UPIKE cross country finished a strong meet in Wilmington, Ohio with 10 personal best performances in the JennaStrong Fall Classic this past weekend.

Benjamin Hall (29:23), Mason Roe (29:25), Cade Watson (29:36), and Jaxon Blaine (29:59) all finished close behind the UPIKE leader. Wolf, Hall, Watson, and Blaine’s times were all personal bests.

Trenedy May also set a personal record with his time of 34:08 and Christian Whitt finished in 38:28, his best time of the season.

On the women’s side, Julia Pernsteiner led the way, finishing the 5K course in 21:57. The rest of the team all set personal records, led by Hannah Frye’s 25:09 time and Kaitlyn Puckett’s mark of 25:12.

Other records included Emma Blankenship’s finish in 27:15, Jessica Johnson’s 29:16, and Amber Moore’s 29:41.

UPIKE will participate in the Asbury Invitational  set for Oct. 26 in Wilmore.

BOWLING

Women finish second at Orange and Black Classic

UPIKE’s women had three bowlers finish in the top five, thus earning all-tournament honors at the Orange and Black Classic held in Circleville, Ohio this past weekend.

The team was second behind Notre Dame.

Lauren Piotrowski picked up her second individual win with a pin fall total of 983, followed by teammate Brittney Turcotte, who totaled 978. Stephanie Crider was fifth with 970 pins.

UPIKE is idle until Oct. 26-27 when they head to Tennessee for the MSC 40 Baker Game Tournament.

Men finish third in Orange and Black Classic

UPIKE’s men continued its strong season with a third place finish this past weekend in the Orange and Black Classic held in Beaver Creek, Ohio.

Justin Larson finished the highest of all individual Pikeville bowlers in 31st with a 1,035 total pin fall, which is just 60 pins back from 11th.  Jonathan Lovett was not far behind in 40th with a 1,017 total pin fall.

UPIKE is idle until Oct. 26-27 when they head to Tennessee for the MSC 40 Baker Game Tournament.

Women fall to No. 5 Lindsey Wilson

UPIKE’s women face their third straight ranked opponent in Lindsey Wilson this past Saturday, 7-0, in a match  in Columbia.

Goalkeeper Elizabeth Lukens had 12 saves in the loss. Dana Turner took the only shot on goal for the Bears.

Men falls in upset bid against Blue Raiders

Lindsey Wilson scored the only goal in the 15th minute and went on to hold off the Bears, 1-0, in Columbia on Saturday.

Goalkeeper Anibal Navarro was outstanding in goal, stopping 17 shots.

VOLLEYBALL

Bears drop road match at Lindsey Wilson

Lindsey Wilson, ranked 13 in the country, took a close first set for UPIKE and went on to blank the Bears, 3-0.

Noelani Simpson had 11 kills in the loss.
