Martin County goalkeeper Ethan Frey had seven saves and was rock-solid between the pipes in leading the Cardinals to a 2-0 victory over Belfry in a match played at Massey Energy Soccer Complex on Monday night.
Josh Gauze scored off an assist from Bobby Hale in the 31st minute to put the Cardinals, now 7-4-0, ahead for good. Jestin Barker added an unassisted goal in the 54th minute.
Belfry goalkeeper Caleb Spears had 13 saves as Martin County took 17 shots on goal. The Pirates dropped to 7-4-1.

Johnson Central and Lawrence County battled to a 3-3 tie in a match played at Eagle Field on Monday night.
Jake Headly had one goal and one assist while Ethan Pack and Braden Kennard added one each as the Golden Eagles moved to 2-7-2.
Goalkeeper Tate Cox had 14 saves in the match.
Tyler Maynard scored two of the Bulldogs three goals and S.J. Lycans added one.
Goalkeeper Trenton Adkins collected 10 saves as the Bulldogs moved to 7-4-2.

Belfry built a three-goal, halftime lead against Martin County and the Lady Pirates went on to score a 5-1 win in a match played at Massey Energy Soccer Complex on Monday night.
Kylie Gollihue scored an unassisted goal in the 28th minute and then added her 40th of the season off an assist from Kenzie Jackson three minutes later to push the lead to 2-0. Jackson then scored.
Caudill added an unassisted goal and Kenzie Maynard capped the Belfry scoring on a penalty kick.
Martin County’s lone goal came from Kaitlyn Gauze, unassisted in the 72nd minute.
Belfry moved to 8-6-1 while Martin County dropped to 5-10-0.

Paintsville’s Michaela Nieminen knocked home all four goals as the Lady Tigers went on the road to Russell and scored a 4-0 victory in a match played Monday night.
Camryn Helton had three assists and Emily Brown added one as Paintsville improved to 9-3-0.
Goalkeeper Hope Auxier finished with 19 saves and record her second straight shutout.
