Martin County took charge early on against Phelps and the Cardinals cruised to 48-8 victory in the Harvest Bowl game played at The Rock on Friday night.
Running back Kolby Sparks rushed 17 times for 161 yards and a pair of touchdowns as the Cardinals moved to 3-1. Branson Smith added 79 yards on 11 carries.
Sparks scored on runs of five and 15 yards while Smith scored on a one-yard plunge.
Phelps quarterback Riley Dotson passed for 68 yards, including a 57-yard pass to Daniel Smith which set up Seth Mayhorn’s one-yard TD run. Smith had two catches for 60 yards.
Martin County is idle this week before hosting Bath County (2-2) on Sept. 27. The Hornets, now 2-1, play at Shelby Valley (3-1) on Sept. 20. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
