UPIKE FOOTBALL: Bears look to even mark at Reinhardt

The University of Pikeville Bears will journey to Waleska, Ga., Saturday for a matchup with Reinhardt University.

Kickoff at Ken Whit Field at University Stadium is set for 1:30 p.m.

The Bears are coming off a season-opening 59-20 loss at Murray State University on August 29 while the Eagles defeated Webber International University at home 16-6.

UPIKE quarterback Bowen Smith completed 15 of 29 passes for 186 yards and one touchdown against the Racers while running back Xondre Willis rushed 15 times for 60 yards. Damian Sutton also had four catches for 72 yards and a score.

The Eagles used a balanced rushing attack in their win, led by Montralius Mosley, Trevae Cain and Billy Hall.

UPIKE’s home opener will take place on Saturday, Sept. 14 when the Bluefield Rams visit the W.C. Hambley Complex for a 7 p.m. kickoff.
