HS FOOTBALL: Paintsville rallies, stuns Beechwood

Paintsville quarterback Jake Hyden tossed an 86-yard touchdown pass to Karsten Poe in the third period to rally the Tigers to a come-from-behind 19-14 in over perennial power Beechwood at Toyota Stadium on the Georgetown College campus Friday night.

It was the second TD reception for Poe who pulled Paintsville to within 14-7 just before halftime on a 27-yard catch. Poe finished with 167 yards receiving.

Running back John Walker Phelps’ three-yard TD run make it 14-13.

Hyden sealed the win when he picked off a Beechwood pass with just under two minutes left to play.

The Tigers return to Memorial Field on Friday night to host Pikeville (2-0) in a 7:30 p.m. kickoff.
