Pikeville and Paintsville emerged victorious in 15th Region All “A” Classic opening matches played Wednesday at the McCoy Athletic Center in Phelps.
The Lady Panthers defeated host Phelps, 2-0, as Kaylee Wells finished with 11 kills and McKinlee Potter followed with eight.
Hannah Akers added six kills in the 25-22 and 25-17 win. Emily Grace Gearheart had four aces and Riley Tavis finished with 20 assists.
Meanwhile, the Lady Tigers rallied from a one-set deficit to advanced with a 2-1 win over East Ridge.
Hannah Little totaled 15 kills and had two blocks in the 20-25, 25-14 and 25-23 win. Hadley Hardin added 13 kills and six digs while Bella Blackburn collected 31 assists and Kaitlyn Newsome added eight kills.
