The University of Pikeville men’s soccer team will be in action against Warren Wilson in Ashville, N.C., just four days after dropping in season opener to Montreat, 1-0, in a double-overtime thriller.
UPIKE senior goalkeeper Anibal Navarro was solid between the pipes, finishing with 19 saves. His previous high was 18 against Montreat four years ago.
The Cavaliers scored in the 103rd minute when a free kick reached the net after Navarro’s 19th save when the rebound was put back by Andre Dinca.
Evan Vanlierop managed four shots on goal in his first match as a Bear.

Host Montreat built a two-goal halftime lead against the University of Pikeville and went on to beat the Bears, 4-1, in the season opener played this past Saturday.
UPIKE’s Mya Holmes scored in the 69th minute of play to cut the deficit to a single goal. It was her first goal as a member of the Bears. Taylor Stamper attempted three shots on goal.
UPIKE will journey to Grand Rapids, Mich., this Friday to face Grace Christian.
