Former Betsy Layne High School athletic standout Megan Frazier finished with 11 kills to help lead the University of Pikeville to a 3-2 home victory over Kentucky Christian at the UPIKE Gymnasium Tuesday night.
Noelani Simpson had 25 kills, four blocks and six serving aces in the 22-25, 25-18, 25-18, 28-26 and 15-9 win.
UPIKE split its opening matches in Bowling Green this past weekend as the Bears beat Montreat, 3-1, winning 24-26, 25-15, 25-22 and 25-23, in a close match.
Frazier had 12 kills and one block while Simpson added 27 kills.
UPIKE then fell to Brescia, 3-0. Simpson had 15 kills and Frazier totaled seven in the 21-25, 15-25 and 19-25 loss.
Last Friday, UPIKE rolled past Blue Mountain, 3-1, as Frazier had 16 kills in the 23-25, 26-24, 25-15 and 25-23 season-opening match.
In match two, Florida College scored a 3-1 win over the Bears. Simpson led the way with 30 kills and Frazier added nine.
The Bears return to the court this weekend in Circleville, Ohio, facing Ohio Christian and Cincinnati Christian.
